About Me
Why do I feel stuck?
Why do I keep reacting the same way?
Why do I know what I want to change, yet still find myself back in the same place?
Why do I feel this way when, on the surface, everything seems fine?
These are deeply personal questions.
They're also questions many people ask themselves.
I've come to realise that some of our greatest misunderstandings begin with assumptions. We assume we know why we think, feel or behave the way we do. We assume we understand other people. Sometimes we're right. Often, we're only seeing part of the picture.
Realising that changed the way I see people.
It also changed the questions I began asking.
Not...
What's wrong with me?
But...
What is happening?
Why might it be happening?
How is it affecting my life?
Those questions eventually led me to become a Pluralistically trained Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. My training gave me a professional foundation, but it also reinforced something I had already begun to understand: people are too complex for one explanation, one theory or one way of understanding them.
That's why I don't begin with assumptions.
I begin with curiosity.
I don't believe every question has an immediate answer.
I don't believe every behaviour can be explained by a single idea.
And I'm comfortable saying, "I don't know," when certainty would be dishonest.
Because understanding isn't always about finding more answers.
Sometimes it's about making sense of what has felt confusing.
If you choose to work with me, I won't assume I know your story.
We'll take the time to understand it together.
My hope isn't that you leave with every answer.
It's that you leave understanding yourself a little better than when you arrived.
Sometimes that understanding comes quickly.
Sometimes it takes time.
Sometimes it begins with a quiet thought.
"That makes sense now."
